Los Angeles - project: gallery is proud to present "familiar friends," featuring new work from lisa alisa, erika yamashiro, cherri wood and lindsay campbell.
The show will be the US gallery debut for both Erika Yamashiro and Lindsay Campbell. Alongside veteran NY "superflat" artist Lisa Alisa, the three emerging artists present work showcasing their unique styles, while giving us their versions of the female form. Bordering between innocent and erotic, each artist expresses their varying degrees of femininity through their alter ego's on canvas. We are left to ponder where self portrait ends and the characters begin.
The show opens Saturday, April 19th, 2008.

Before despotism was cool there was Napoleon, king George III, and a whole lot of waffle batter to go around. Tel Est La Guerre [such is war], the latest series from Jophen Stein's Snootson Family Showcase, makes light of the events preceding, during, and after the Napoleonic Wars.
For Jophen Stein's latest show, he is creating a new series of themed paintings, as well as a series of custom figurines and installation.
Jophen Stein’s artwork is a collection of narrative, character, and historical based art. While there are a variety of subjects and motifs presented, a principle underlining theme exists concerning the correlation between antiquity and modernity. With the help of literary devices such as irony, alliteration, and double entendre's, Stein parodies contemporary social life with the eras and precedence that created it.
